Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive, Japanese form of energy healing.  Rei= universal, Ki= life energy (pronounced ray-key).  It can be used to facilitate healing on a variety of levels including physical, emotional, mental or spiritual and strengthens the bodies natural ability to heal itself.

During a Reiki session, the practitioner places their hands gently on or above various locations of the body and allows the universal life energy to flow through them and into their client. The universal life energy will move to where the energy is needed most to enhance the healing process. Most clients experience a deep, relaxed state which allows the natural healing wisdom of the body to activate.

Reiki seeks to restore order to the body and is a perfect compliment to other integrative and traditional healing methods. It is not meant to replace treatment from a physician but rather to enhance it.

Dr. Mikao Usui brought Reiki to the Western world in the early 20th century, but it is believed to have originated thousands of years ago.
